Note: I am a beginner so other factors may also contribute to the sound such as mounting, plate, table, mic etch. the tactility made pressing/clicking on the switch faster so it’ll be better for typing but I’m sticking to linear as the smooth feel is what I prefer Also, coming from a smooth linear such as the black inks, the tactility of the u4t was a new feel. Lubing it with krytox 203g0 will make it sound a bit deeper, but I do think that it’s not much different with stock u4t. The boba u4t on the other hand has a louder sound signature, it still “deep” in it’s own way, but it’s a bit higher pitch. I’ve heard many reviewers said that it is so deep that it is muted, which is very much true if you lube and film them properly. The Black inks V2 lubed and filmed with krytox 205g0 and deskey switch films had a deep muted sound signature. THE BAD POINTS: For being a cheap linear switch, this is great, but if you have deeper pockets and want an even smoother switch, there are other options available for you. Here’s what I found from testing with nk65 entry edition (felt plate foam, pe foam mod, tempest tape mod, changed the silicone dampener to multiple layers of foam since the silicone made the sound higher pitch) In fact, I preferred to use these whilst gaming compared to any other switch made by Cherry.
THE GOOD POINTS: It’s almost as this is an upgrade from a Cherry MX Red or from any lighter, scratchier linear switch. THE BAD POINTS: Similar to the BAD POINTS I made in the Weighting category. THE GOOD POINTS: If you find other linear switches to be too light to actuate and/or you make typos with those, then this may be for you. Sound definitely wasn’t the main focus when designing this switch, but that’s not why you buy it anyway. THE BAD POINTS: This is where this switch loses a lot of points. THE BAD POINTS: I made slightly more typos with this switch compared to a tactile or clicky switch despite there only being a 5g actuation force difference with my Kailh Box Pinks. But if you’re coming from a much lighter switch – say Cherry MX Red, you may class these as “heavy switches”. The 60g actuation force has slightly more resistance than a red or yellow switch, leading the Ink Blacks to feel heavy. How do Gateron Black Inks feel Heavy and smooth. THE GOOD POINTS: These are the heaviest linear switch in Gateron’s lineup, but as a Kailh Box Pink user myself, I would class the Gateron Black to be ‘medium weighted’. The Gateron Ink Black switches are a 5-pin linear switch, meaning there is no tactile bump during the keystroke, but rather a smooth keypress all the way down and back up.
Some keys also are scratchier than others indicating quality inconsistency. THE BAD POINTS: Off-center keypresses still present noticeable amounts of scratchiness. OFFER : Buy 5 or more 10 off, buy 10 or more 15 off. Linear switch with cloudy black colour housing. Compatible with GK61 mechanical keyboards. However, more expensive linear switches such as the NovelKeys Cream and Gateron Black Ink are far smoother. Popular Gateron Mechanical key switches with cross-type contact form. THE GOOD POINTS: These are smoother than any modern Cherry switch, without a doubt. Here’s the video review if you prefer watching content: But, as with any switch, there is more to it than just its raw value. It’s common to find these for less than $3.00 for 10 switches Cherry switches cost between $4.00 – $4.50 for the same quantity. From the get-go, these were made to compete with more expensive Cherry switches.
